Statistics on education include data on students, graduations and teachers as well as on the educational structure of the population.
Child care
The statistics on child care in Åland includes for example number of children in child care, annual full-time equivalent employees, number of days in day care and number of daycare centers/family daycare centers.
Comprehensive school
The comprehensive school in Åland consists of two educational levels, primary school (grades 1-6) and lower secondary school (grades 7-9). Students with intellectual disabilities may also attend grade 0 and 10. The statistics include, among other things, information about the students' language studies, special education, gender, grade, school and home municipality. The statistics mainly apply to the situation at the beginning of the school year, or on August 30 of each year.
Education after comprehensive school and at the Åland University of Applied Sciences
Educaion after comprehensive school in Åland consists of general upper secondary education at Ålands Lyceum, vocational upper secondary education at Ålands yrkesgymnasium and higher education at the Åland University of Applied Sciences. Also included is a school called Ålands folkhögskola where pupils can attend qualifying courses or special courses for music, arts and crafts. The statistics applies to the situation at the beginning of the school year, or on 20 September.
Teachers
The statistics provide a picture of all staff who participate in teaching in comprehensive school, at upper secondary level and at the Åland University of Applied Sciences, as well as some of the staff in other type of education, which includes Ålands musikinstitut and Medborgarinsitutet in Mariehamn. The information that is presented includes age, gender and information on employment, teaching subjects and qualifications. The data is collected every three years and applies to the situation in the spring semester.
Students outside Åland
The statistics cover individuals who, during the reference year, received student financial aid from the Government of Åland for studies at educational institutions outside Åland. The data presented include, among other things, information on the country of study, school, field of education, and level of education.
